Broadacres is listed in the National Register of Historic Places due to its historic significance in architecture, community planning and landscape architecture. Broadacres was established in 1922 by Captain James A. Baker and James A. Baker, Jr. and designed by William Ward Watkins.
Broadacres is a privately-owned and privately-maintained neighborhood consisting of a Park, seven Esplanades and 26 homes. Many of the homes were designed by the most prominent Houston architects of the period including John Staub, Birdsall P. Briscoe and William Ward Watkins.
Broadacres Homeowners Association is a Texas nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the Association is for the maintenance and improvement of Broadacres (including the Common Properties consisting of the park and esplanades owned by the Association), the collection of assessments and the enforcement of deed restrictions.
